You can import contact list from the old AU mail system to the AU Google Apps as well as you can create a new contact list using Excel and import into AU Google Apps.
Before you can import contact list, you must have a file to import first. You can export your old contact list from old AU system or you can create a new contact list using
any spread sheet application such as MS Excel. Please read more information about how to export the contact list and how to crate a new contact list from the links below.
Now, you should have a ".csv" file and ready to import. Please follow the steps to import the contact list.
Step 1: At the Gmail page, click at "Mail" and you can see a drop down menu, then select "Contacts"
The menu would be changed to "Contact" menu as shown in the picture.
Step 2: Click "More" and then "Import".
Step 4: The system will display a pop-up dialog, click at “Choose File” to select a file to import and then click “Import”.
Step 5: Once the import process completed, there will be a new group which the group name beginning with “Imported” and then follow by the import date. The new group was created under “My Contact”. According to this example, I imported the contacts at 24st October 2012, so the system create a new group named “Imported 10/24/2012” for me. All the imported contacts are in this group as their default group.
Step 6: Once you click to the created group at first time, you shall see a message as shown in picture below. It is a warning message to let you click “Find & merge duplicates”. If you click this link, the system will search for the contact with the same key information and merge them. If you would like to skip, you can click at the “x” icon. The contacts that you just imported are shown in the main panel.
